It's hot - stiflingly hot - in midsummer on
an island off the French coast, where a
wealthy family lolls away the days in
brilliant sunshine, bored beside their cliffside
pool. Then Boris (Nicolas Cazalé), a
seductive young stranger, arrives
unannounced and arouses the emotions
of the two sensually arrogant poolside
sisters (Laura Smet and Anne Caillon).
Boris has neither luggage nor ID, but
claims to have been invited by their noshow
brother Philippe. He quickly makes
himself at home - too quickly for André-
Pierre, husband of the married sister. But
the girls are swiftly charmed...
Director Gilles Paquet-Brenner creates a
strange and unreal atmosphere for this
haunting thriller and psychological drama,
reminiscent of Jacques Deray's classic
The Pool.
