The inestimable Catherine Deneuve
revels in one of her most expressive roles
in years, in actor/director Gael Morel's
moving new drama, co-written by
Christophe Honoré (Inside Paris, Love
Songs). She stars as Camille, a vivacious
divorcee who runs a classy bookshop in
Lyon, whose life is turned upside down
when her twenty-year-old son is killed in
an accident.
She begins to cling to any signs of her
lost son's life, even forming a strange
friendship with his best friend Franck
(Thomas Dumerchez) who escaped the
incident unharmed. And despite the
scandal, Frank even allows himself to be
the object of Camille's affections. But he
slowly realizes that her attraction is a
threat to him...
Strong supporting performances from
Elodie Bouchez, Guy Marchand and
Dumerchez take nothing away from the
unmistakable talents of Deneuve, one of
French cinema's most enduring stars. Her
work here is outstanding.
